Coaches O'Steen and Livingston are looking forward to an exciting 2015 season. The 2014 Lady Pirates set a team season record with 47 homeruns and the 2015 squad is expected to exceed last year's mark. Hitting should be the high point of the Lady Pirates season. The Lady Pirates are expecting big things from leadoff-Niki Wilfong who will likely be followed by bat handler Sierra Keeling who is coming off of strong freshman season. The middle of the lineup should host some power with Jasmine Sydnor, Erin Patterson, Brittany Russ, and Micah Simmons. The lower end of the lineup will have the speed of Whitnei Morgan and some additional power in freshmen Mady Brown and Brandi Atkins. In and out of this hitting array will be the power of Amber Locey and Jessica Vann along with the solid contact of Mallory Smith, Sarah Horne, and Danielle Brown, and Karlee Jennings.
Experience is going to be another good point with 13 sophomores strengthened by the addition of 4 sophomore transfers.
The pitching is promising with the return of Beth Garner and Erin Patterson. They will be joined by Macey Tucker, and have support from, Jessica Vann and Blair Bonner. If needed, the Lady Pirates can also send to the mound Jasmine Sydnor, Brittany Russ, and Karlee Jennings.
The defense looks solid with plenty of depth in this 21 player roster. The defense will be anchored by middle infielders Tori Poss and Niki Wilfong. Behing the dish, is the strong catching of Brittany Russ.
The Lady Pirates open up on February 7, at Andrew College.
